1967 Malta, Gibraltar, Pompey, Bermuda, Bahamas, Key West, Azores, Portsmouth, then Devonport for boiler repairs

1974 Joined the 3rd Frigate Squadron, visiting South Africa (Cape Town) en route to Far East and Pacific
1975 In December 1975 Leander undertook a ‘Cod War’ Fishery Protection Patrol
1976 On January 6th Leander collided with the Icelandic Gunboat Thor. On her return to Devonport for repairs she lost power in a storm off Scotland. Later that year she undertook a second Cod War Patrol and on May 22nd was rammed by the Gunboat Ver.

1978 Portland Work up then deployment to the West Coast of the States visiting, Brest, Bermuda, Curacao, Montserrat, Mayport, Florida Keys, Panama City, Long Beach, San Francisco, Vancouver, Victoria, Port Alberni and Amsterdam.

1982 In 1982 Leander was diverted from NATO Exercise Northern Wedding to aid the stricken Fish Factory Ship, Ave Maria. She along with HMS Euryalus rescued 45 people from the Portuguese vessel.

On September 1st 1986 Leander was paid off into the Portsmouth Standby Squadron, where she was at 30 days notice to sail.

In  September 1989 Leander left Portsmouth under tow from RMAS Rollicker and RMAS Powerful. Later that month she was employed as a target in exercise NATO Sharp Spear, during which she was struck by a Sea Dart and three exocet missiles before being sunk by a 1,000lb bomb.
